Finding the Beauty in the Mess

"He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart, yet no one can fathom what God has done from the beginning to the end." Ecclesiastes 3:11

Have you ever paused to consider how many messes you deal with daily? (Both in the literal and figurative sense.) It could be a disorganized home or a chaotic workspace, but it might also involve a troubled relationship, financial difficulties, or poor choices. These "messes" can result in regrets, failures, temptations, and struggles with sins, and they can truly begin to pile up!

Here's the thing! Satan loves a good mess. He thrives in chaos, using stress, worry, busyness, and regrets to distract us from where our focus should be. Frequently, we attempt to resolve or tidy up the chaos ourselves, trying to improve things before bringing them to God. When we handle situations on our own, we often perceive them as unmanageable because they seem out of control. We start to believe there's no way out, thinking it's the end. We can't see beyond this moment in time and tend to give up. What's the saying about missing the forest for the trees?

God sees it all. God can take all these situations we find ourselves in and turn them into beautiful messes! The definition of a beautiful mess is God's ability to transform brokenness and imperfections into something beautiful through faith and grace.

I enjoy reading books by Christian authors, and one of my favorite quotes comes from Susan Warren's book "One Last Shot": "There's the story we create and the story we're created for." We may have a messy story (and let's face it, we all do) but God can take that messy story and turn it into a testimony.

If you're still breathing, God is still writing your story. We shouldn't conceal our flaws or attempt to correct them before coming to God, yet we often do. We can never be worthy enough or polished enough to merit God's goodness and grace. Thankfully, we don't have to earn it!

In 2 Corinthians 4:7-9 it says, "But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed."

The power to control our story comes from God, not us!

Our imperfections and chaos do not obstruct God's plans; instead, they serve as a medium for His power and beauty to be displayed. There is a purpose behind the pain and a reason for everything. We simply need to allow God to utilize it!

This is the point where we need to entrust everything to God. At times, this isn't as simple as it appears. Handing our troubles over to God doesn't guarantee that He will immediately resolve everything and make it flawless. Often, He will guide us to use our experiences to reach others, if we allow Him to do so.

God has the power to transform darkness, desperation, disappointments, every tear, and every setback into something beautiful and redemptive, using them to shape us and prepare us for His purpose in our lives. No tear or struggle is wasted if we allow God to use them to accomplish His will in our lives.

In 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 it says, "Praise be to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God."

Always remember that God is with you in the chaos! He is working behind the scenes, transforming the disorder into something beautiful! It could become your personal miracle amidst the mess! Let today to be the day you give your chaos over to Him.
